- The project, located in the municipality of Negrete, Biobío Region, will have an installed capacity of 128 MW and incorporates a battery storage system.
EDF power solutions Chile’s Fénix Wind Farm project, located in the municipality of Negrete in the Biobío Region, has received its Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA), following a recommendation for approval from the Executive Directorate of the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA).
The project involves the construction and operation of a wind farm with an installed capacity of 128 MW, consisting of 16 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8 MW.
In addition, the Fénix Wind Farm includes a battery energy storage system (BESS), key infrastructure that will provide greater flexibility to the National Electric System (SEN).
The energy generated will be evacuated through a connection to the Epuleufú Substation, strengthening the power grid in southern Chile.
The CEO of EDF power solutions Chile, Joan Leal, highlighted that “obtaining the RCA for the Fénix Wind Farm represents a new milestone in the strategy we are implementing to develop and build projects that contribute renewable energy and flexibility to the electric system. At EDF power solutions, we remain committed to supporting a sustainable, competitive, and secure energy transition.”
