EDF and Enap Sign Agreement for the Use of the Cabo Negro Industrial Complex in Magallanes

Through this agreement, the Chilean state-owned company Enap and EDF will initiate studies to enable the utilization of Enap's facilities, allowing for the export of up to 400,000 tons annually of green ammonia, among other hydrogen-derived products linked to the project that EDF is developing in the Magallanes region.

Chile's largest solar plant inaugurated by EDF

On July 8, 2024, in the presence of national and regional authorities and key players in the energy sector, the largest solar plant in Chile, CEME 1, which is part of the EDF Group's portfolio in Chile, was inaugurated. With a capacity of 480 MW, CEME 1 was built and will be operated by Generadora Metropolitana, a company jointly owned by EDF and AME.

EDF Group Signs Agreement with ENAP for the Development of Enabling Infrastructure for the Green Hydrogen Industry in Magallanes

On July 27, EDF Group, in collaboration with Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (ENAP) and energy companies Total Eren Chile, HIF Chile, FreePower Group, RWE, and HNH Energy, signed an agreement aimed at transforming the Gregorio Maritime Terminal into the largest industrial complex in the Magallanes Region. This transformation will facilitate the production and commercialization of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

The French State becomes the sole shareholder of EDF again

On July 19, 2022, the French State announced its intention to launch a simplified public offer to acquire EDF's shares and delist the company from the stock exchange. This operation has been completed following the forced sale of shares carried out by the French government, according to the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) on May 26, 2023. As a result, the French State now holds the entire share capital and voting rights of EDF.

The planet is in an exceptional moment due to the environmental crisis and the impact of extreme meteorological phenomena amplified by global warming, becoming one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, just as it exposed by the UN in its report on the climate crisis in August of this year. In this context, the photographic exhibition “Climate change in images” was inaugurated, a selection of photos of landscapes around the world (including Chile), which have been awarded and exhibited in different countries for the shocking reality they show and that seek to raise awareness of the effects that human behavior is having on the planet.

Generadora Metropolitana advances in the construction of 480 MW solar power plant

Generadora Metropolitana (GM), a company belonging to EDF and AME, is making progress in the construction of CEME 1, the largest solar plant in Chile.

Located in the heart of the Atacama Desert, five kilometers from the commune of María Elena in the Antofagasta Region, the CEME 1 solar plant will have an installed capacity of 480 MW and will cover a total area of 435 hectares, equivalent to 370 soccer fields.
