EDF Group had a prominent presence at Hyvolution Chile 2024, one of the most significant green hydrogen events in the region, which took place from September 3 to 5 at the Metropolitan Santiago Convention Center.

The event was organized by FISA of the GL Events group and H2 Chile, brought together more than 95 companies and more than 90 panelists, both national and international. They discussed the current state and outlook of the green hydrogen industry on a global scale, with a particular focus on Chile, over the course of the three-day event.

The opening ceremony was attended by President Gabriel Boric and several officials from both the public and private sectors. They emphasized the critical role of green hydrogen in the nation's energy transition and its contribution to the global fight against climate change.

During the event, Juan Camus, Project Director of EDF Chile, participated in the panel “Strategies to materialize competitiveness in Chile”, where he discussed the country's competitive advantages for the development of green hydrogen projects. He highlighted macroeconomic responsibility and regulatory stability as key factors. He also addressed the main challenges facing the industry, particularly the need for shared infrastructure and clear regulations that encourage investment and enable the country to capitalize on the current window of opportunity

In this context, Juan Camus highlighted that Chile has a Green Hydrogen Action Plan for this decade and emphasized the importance of continued public-private collaboration to ensure that the milestones set in the Plan are achieved in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, Andrés Madariaga, Chief Business Officer at EDF Renewables, participated in the panel 'Strategic Infrastructure: Enabling the Hydrogen Industry.' During the discussion, Andrés Madariaga addressed the urgency of developing shared infrastructure in Magallanes to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the projects currently under development in the region. He also emphasized that coordination in the development and use of infrastructure, such as ports and roads, is crucial to ensure that Chile can export and distribute hydrogen effectively and promptly, meeting global market expectations.

Presence in the France Pavillion

During the three days of the exhibition, the EDF Group was present in the France pavilion, organized by the French-Chilean Chamber of Commerce with the support of the French Embassy. The pavilion showcased France's interest in supporting the development of the green hydrogen industry in Chile and highlighted EDF's projects and expertise, as well as that of other French companies present.
