On November 20th, during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Chile, EDF Chile’s CEO, Joan Leal, attended a reception held in honor of the President and his wife, Brigitte Macron. The event was hosted by the French Ambassador to Chile, Cyrille Rogeau, at his residence.

Joan Leal highlighted the shared vision between France and Chile regarding the importance of advancing the energy transition to tackle climate change. He also praised President Macron’s support for the investments being made by the EDF Group in Chile, particularly in innovative projects such as energy storage and green hydrogen. “Both Chile and the EDF Group aim to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This common goal guides our work in the country, where we are focused on developing a portfolio of clean energy projects and innovative solutions that allow us to contribute to the country’s energy transition and help build a sustainable future”, stated Joan Leal.

The event was attended by prominent members of the French community in Chile, as well as representatives from the French Chamber of Commerce in Chile and French companies operating in the country. It also featured the notable participation of Éléonore Caroit, the French Deputy for Latin America and the Caribbean, who took advantage of her visit to Chile to carry out a busy agenda, which included a tour of EDF Renewables’ Santiago Solar plant.
