In the scope of the first edition of EDF Pulse Chile contest, EDF and ProChile award US$15,000 to two startups for their innovative energy projects. EDF will also supply the two winning Chilean startups, Wenu Work and Sunai, with technical advice and support in their introduction into the French market.

In line with its commitment of building a carbon-neutral future through electricity and innovative technological solutions, EDF declared Wenu Word and Sunai winners of the first version of the EDF Pulse Chile contest.

This verdict was delivered by a jury made up of international specialists from the EDF’s Group innovation team, executives from the EDF Group’s subsidiaries in Chile, EDF Andes and EDF Renewables, as well as experts from ProChile. Amongst seven finalists, their choice fell upon two startups, belonging to the ProChile Global X program : Sunai in the Smart Renewables category, with a technology that allows optimizing the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic generation plants, and Wenu Work in the Smart Factory category, with a solution that allows the digitalization of critical variables to improve decision-making processes and make more efficient use of energy, generating significant savings.

EDF Pulse Chile will reward the two winners with prizes whose total value equates to US$15,000. In addition, they will be offered evaluation and testing of their projects by a specialized team from the companies of the EDF Group and support in internationalization, ensuring support in the French market.

The CEO of EDF Andes, Jean-Lorain Genty, underlined the quality of the projects presented by the participants in this first version of the contest, asserting that “innovation is part of the DNA of the EDF Group, and of all the projects and solutions that we are developing. We are convinced that instances such as Pulse are key so that, together with other market players, innovations materialize and allows progress in the energy transition and address the environmental challenges of the country and the world”.

Likewise, Jean-Christophe Puech, CEO of EDF Renewables Chile, stated that “promoting the EDF Pulse event in Chile for the first time has turned out to be a very rewarding experience.”

EDF Pulse is an initiative launched by EDF to strive for a carbon-neutral future by supporting young businesses in their innovative projects. Held for the first time in Chile, the contest has also occurred in countries such as France, the United Kingdom, China, India and Brazil.
